The TENG Ensemble returns to VivoCity Amphitheatre following their sold-out shows in 2023
SINGAPORE, 5 January 2024 - The TENG Ensemble (“TENG”) is ringing in the festivities this Lunar New Year with the fifth edition of the sought-after community concert series Once Upon a Time! The concert is presented by Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) and will be held at the VivoCity Amphitheatre on 2 and 3 February 2024. Tickets to the concert are available for purchase via Eventbrite at S$4 to S$5 each, with a discounted rate via the “family and friends bundle”.
The one-hour concert will start at 8pm, hosted by TENG's Executive Director, Yang Ji Wei, and Creative Director, Samuel Wong. The TENG Ensemble will present familiar Lunar New Year festive tunes and music from hit shows, including Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, alongside the premier of a new original work composed by TENG’s Composer-in-Residence Chow Junyi.
The concert will feature three guest performers. The first is award-winning singer Lennerd Lim, the champion of Hua Yi Icon Search 2018, the 1st runner-up for Campus Superstar 2013, and a finalist of The Voice Singapore/Malaysia. Known for his incredible vocal range and ability to sing in multiple languages, Lennerd will be performing the theme songs from several television series, including the popular Thai series Love Destiny. Two Mapletree-TENG scholars, Preston Ang and Li Zhixin, will also debut on the stage with their own performances on the Suona 嗩吶 and Ruan 阮 respectively.
Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree, said: “We are delighted to welcome The TENG Ensemble back to the VivoCity Amphitheatre for the fifth edition of Lunar New Year community concert series Once Upon a Time. As a long-time advocate for the arts, we continually seek to enrich communities by supporting local talent and the artistic landscape. Beyond the melodies, this concert serves as a symphony of meaningful connections, cultural appreciation and shared purpose.”
"2024 marks the 20th anniversary of The TENG Company, and we look forward to celebrating with audiences with our brand of fusion music to usher in the Lunar New Year," said Dr. Samuel Wong.
Once Upon a… is part of an annual series of concerts that celebrates the Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. Following the success of three sold-out shows at Once Upon a Full Moon 2023, Mapletree and TENG are proud to be back with yet another instalment of the performance to kickstart the Lunar New Year.
